The VP of Operations directs and manages the business unit activities, implements effective business strategies, and programs and allocates budget resources. Provides direct management and oversight of key functional areas in the business units including Production, Warehouse, R&D, and Product & Business Development across our four facilities on the east coast located in Hanover, MD, Fort Mill & Blythwood, SC, and Miami, FL. Ensures that project/department milestones and goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

The VP of Operations is responsible for top grading and developing the management team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, entrepreneurial mindset, team building and learning. This role is responsible for managing multi-sites production & distribution facilities that formulates and manufactures machines and inks and distributes tattoo, permanent makeup and piercing supplies. This position will be responsible for having effective supervision over production staff, verifying successful manufacturing & distribution operations, and developing procedures that comply with the company needs, plans and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for ensuring all day-to-day operations, including purchasing, production planning, manufacturing and shipping of quality products maintain continuous quality while reviewing process improvements to ensure attainment of operational goals, tactics, and priorities that drive business results with a focus on quality.

The VP of Operations will report directly to the CEO. In addition, this position will partner with Sales & Finance to ensure forecasting, quality, and supply chain are running optimally as well as the SVP of Marketing on new products, marketing campaigns and other promotions.

Key Job Accountabilities:
  • In partnership with CEO and Founders, ensure the creation and implementation of a strategy designed to grow the business.
  • Ensure the attainment of Company production and quality objectives through the direction, development, motivation, evaluation, and promotion of staff. Supervise immediate subordinates and prescribe broad areas of responsibilities for each.
  • Monitor overall business unit performance, responsible for achievement of manufacturing & fulfillment goals and revenue targets, safety goals, and quality standards.
  • Implement and direct the efforts to increase production and improve quality for the business unit. Provide continual quality improvement of processes, customer audit participation and implementation of cost savings initiatives.
  • Identify new and enhance existing processes designed to promote efficiency, cost reduction and expense control. Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with human resources to topgrade employees and increase the overall knowledge, skill and competence levels of the team.
  • Ensure the compliance of state and federal employment, Injury, Illness & Protection Program (IIPP), and environmental regulations. Follow all applicable company and plant Quality, Safety, and Housekeeping rules. Including Covid-19 safety protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Partner with the finance, human resources, IT, marketing, and sales groups to ensure successful operations.
  • Coordinate the development of key performance goals for functions and direct reports.
  • Communicate strategy and results to the unit's employees.
  • Create and measure operating KPI's to drive continuous improvement
  • Create and monitor written policies and SOPs
  • Responsible for capital planning and expenditures
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Experience/Training/Skills:
  • BA degree in a business-related field, MBA and/or certifications in operational excellence preferred
  • A minimum of 10+ years in manufacturing operations environment
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of production, materials, inventory management production scheduling, preventative maintenance, and shipping.
  • Demonstrated experience with accountability for managing profitable growth, along with a thorough understanding of business principles. Knowledge of basic accounting and financial concepts.
  • Strong experience in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing within production and manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to measure performance to company goals and standards and establish targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, short and long team goals and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate success with problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Experience implementing capital improvements.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating chemical manufacturing plant
  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and computer technology

Measure of Success:
  • Establish and develop SOP's for production a East Coast facilities in order to establish KPI's for Production, Fulfillment and Quality teams.
  • Establish clear, consistent, and measurable standards for operations. These include but are not limited to first pass yield, rework, and scrap, capacity utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, and standard operating efficiency.
  • Define and optimize cost of finished goods through material cost reduction, improved manufacturing efficiencies, inventory, supply chain and a cost tracking system to support continuous improvement.
  • Increases management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; cultivating a climate for offering information and opinions and providing educational opportunities.
