What Is the Chief of Staff Role: (Open to Chief of Staff or Snr. Chief of Staff)



The role of Chief of Staff offers an amazing opportunity for an individual who wants to help influence the future direction of Slalom. This individual is about servant leadership, enabling our people to deliver the very best work for their clients, and engaged in strategic initiatives and ensuring seamless operation of the market. As part of our Denver executive leadership team (ELT), they will extend the reach of our Market General Manager by running the rhythm of business, owning strategic projects and acting as their proxy, as needed.


In this role you will have visibility into the strategy, operations, and execution of the market and play an important role in helping elevate and prioritize those with the most impact. You are a thinker and doer, a leader and relationship builder, a go-getter and an organizer.



What You'll Do




Assist in Creation of Aligned and Effective ELT(MD, GM) and SLT (Sr. Dir, MD, GM)



• Partner with and act as a voice of the Market GM to help lead, guide, and manage a high-performing team (ELT).


• Keep the ELT accountable for their commitments while helping keep reports accountable to their key deliverables and results.


• Organize and prioritize critical issues and required information for the leadership team to facilitate efficient decision-making.


• Define agenda and facilitate in-person weekly ELT team meetings and quarterly offsites.


• Define agenda and facilitate in-person quarterly SLT meetings.



Communication Drafting and Orchestration



• Draft and/or review office-wide Market GM communications and prepare executive presentations.


• Ensure alignment, coordination, transparency, and accountability across key business areas in office and team touchpoints. (SOTO, Quarterly, Ops Call, Leadership Call, etc...)


• Be familiar with all components of the Denver office and have a strong working knowledge of internal operations and consultant teams.


• Cultivate relationships with stakeholders across the Denver office, the West region, and broader Slalom to align business objectives and work effectively together.



Business Operations and Strategy Execution



• Execute market strategy, strategic initiatives, and key measures in alignment with Regional and Global strategies. Shape and refine the governance and collaborate with the teams to execute.


• Define and run an effective rhythm of business (RoB).


• Ability to understand the financial health of our business and establish measures of success and ensure regular reporting.


• Work closely with the leadership team to shape strategic priorities throughout the year.


• Partner with Market GM on key organizational changes, leadership alignment, and process improvements to ensure vision and strategy are top-of-mind.


• Drive the annual forecasting process and act as liaison with Finance and other corporate services teams.


• Partner with and advise our People Business Partner (PBP) on people operational processes.



Program Management of Strategic Initiatives



• Work directly with our Market GM to manage and execute key strategic initiatives across the business.


• Balance the focus that we pull to strategic initiatives with the ability to run our business.



Serve as a Trusted Advisor and Coach



• Be a sounding board/advisor on confidential matters and maintain a high level of discretion.


• Serve as a coach to people across all levels of the market on navigating issues.


• Have an ear to the ground on emerging trends, hot topics, challenge areas and either work through resolution independently or provide Market GM visibility where appropriate.

Qualifications



• At least 15 years of professional experience, including 7 years in leadership, with the majority being in consulting.


• Highly organized, proactive self-starter with a curious nature, empathetic approach, and "hustle" mentality.


• Exceptional program or project management experience and ability to follow through, communicate and execute in dynamic environments.


• A connector with an ability to build deep and meaningful relationships across a variety of stakeholders; works well with a highly collaborative, team-oriented approach to problem solving.


• A results-oriented leader with strong business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to connect dots on data, identify trends, patterns and insights, and recommended actions.


• Stellar problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and structure complex problems into high quality, analytically sound, detail-oriented solutions with little guidance.


• Strategic and "hands-on" with a willingness to be a "player-coach" and roll up the sleeves to get things done. Adept at helicoptering from being a strategic thinker and visionary to leading exceptional delivery of programs and initiatives and diving into details when required.


• Business savvy perspective, with a demonstrated ability to combine knowledge, skills and instincts and apply them to navigating business complexities, identify market trends and opportunities, and make strategic decisions.


• Executive-level presentation skills to build compelling and easy to interpret presentations. Present to and collaborate with senior executives and gain influence at all levels of the organization.


• A learner, not a knower. Is confident (but not arrogant) and loves to help others grow.


• Communicates a compelling vision and is committed to what needs to be done. Not afraid to initiate action before all the facts are known. Has a scrappy, can-do attitude.

Compensation:




Chief of Staff: $146,000 to $180,000 + variable bonus



Snr. Chief of Staff: $180,000 to $219,000 + variable bonus


Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
