Job Description


The manager, business support provides leadership and vision for the staff engaged in financial support of the business including financial planning, forecasting and business analysis. Responsibilities include advising management and staff on financial activities and issues, managing financial projects and analyses and determining the financial impact of current and proposed business projects.


Responsibilities


Manage the financial review and analysis of the business operations. Monitor and analyze O&M budget variances and work with the business to develop corrective action plans for unfavorable variances. Manage the financial liaison relationship between the business operations and financial area of the company. (25%)

Participate in the development of the corporate and departmental business plans ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives and customer needs; develop and implement long-term budgeting strategy; oversee the development of strategic reports and analyses to support financial plans and business operations. (25%)

Manage capital investment oversight activities to ensure investment opportunities are evaluated on a sound and consistent economic basis. (20%)

Analyze and advise management and business employees on financial issues and the impact on the business; recommend problem resolutions and action plans to management. (10%)

Manage and perform financial analysis and research related to the needs and programs of the company operations; provide assistance to the business management in determining the financial impact of proposed and current transactions. (10%)

Manage the development of integrated investment and performance management processes to support investment and performance management for the business. (5%)

Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the team, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Eight plus years of related experience in accounting and/or finance, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities; extensive knowledge of the operations of the business.

Accounting/finance skills to apply accounting principles, tax laws and common financial models to the analysis of investments, financial statements and reports.

Strong personal computer skills; proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Oracle and PowerPoint; demonstrated ability to understand and utilize computer systems and applications as tools for analysis.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage a group of individuals and lead project teams to achieve desired results.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Strong project management skills; the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
