The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency https://www.laora.org/ at UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a full time OPO, In-House Coordinator position. The incumbent provides relationship management, orientations, education, service communications, problem solving, identification and root cause analysis of persistent problems, as well as obtain authorization for organ, tissue, and eye donation and provide family support including follow up/aftercare. The OPO, In-House Coordinator should exemplify Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency's core values and uphold the mission statement. The OPO, In-House Coordinator is also trained and responsible for effectively gathering clinical information and patient/family dynamics. The OPO, In-House Coordinator must adhere to policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.



CORE JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Provides prompt and professional response to referrals from level 1 trauma facilities within LAORA's Donation Service Area in a manner consistent with LAORA's policies and procedures.


  • Obtains all relevant information required to make a comprehensive assessment of medical suitability for donation potential, under the direction of LAORA's Medical Director.


  • Determines the legal next-of-kin and develops an appropriate approach strategy to ensure a compassionate, sensitive, decoupled approach when offering the opportunity of donation.


  • Assesses the needs of the potential donor family and provides on-going information about their loved one's condition.


  • Counsels families to help them understand brain death and the process of organ and tissue donation thereby facilitating the consent process.


  • Completes all paper and electronic records per LAORA's policies and ensure that all donation related documentation, including but not limited to documentation complying with hospital protocol, are properly completed. Responsible for the initial clinical assessment of consented organ donors.


  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field


  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)


  • CPR- Adult/Child/Infant.


  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience


  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certification may be considered.
