Job Summary
This position is accountable for leading the implementation of safety standard practices to achieve business and location safety and health goals and objectives. Proactively working with key operational stakeholders at their location(s), the incumbent supports both compliance and consistency aligned with their business segment needs and acts as an advocate of best safety practices.

Key Accountabilities
Integrate safety best practices / initiatives to achieve business and site safety and health goals and objectives.
Partner with the corporate safety team to ensure consistency throughout the facility regarding regulatory and company safety and health standards.
Embrace the Human Performance Improvement processes, achieve training beyond the fundamental level and lead processes such as an EFF and conduct training as needed.
Reinforce a culture where safety and health is understood to be and is accepted as a high priority in all operating decisions.
Champion the behavioral based safety process.
Focus on the customer and create tools/systems that exceed customers’ expectations.
Demonstrate the initiative and creativity to identify and solve fleet wide problems.
Lead fleet wide initiative(s), recognized as leader by peers, customers and management.
Continuously evaluate the integration of productivity/safety by making sure that our actions match our words.
Encourage ambitious goals, stretch to meet them, and then raise the bar for continuous improvement.
Challenge conventional thinking, explore new technology.
Education, Experience, and Skill requirements
12 years experience in Power Generation with Occupational Safety, Engineering or safety certification from a recognized organization (e.g., ASSE, NSC, or TEEX).
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Minimum 3years of progressively responsible experience in a safety or supervisory role.
Knowledgeable of behavior-based principles and human performance improvement processes and has facilitated the utilization of appropriate tools.
Strong communications and presentation skills required—written and verbal. Computer skills
Self-starter--must demonstrate strong initiative, display independent judgment, and possess proven analytical and tactical planning skills.
Key Metrics
Communicate safety issues, trends, etc. to the Safety Manager, corporate safety personnel, and site management as well as the regulatory and other support positions.
Proactively work with the other safety specialists and key operational stakeholders to align safety compliance and consistency.
Take the initiative to leverage good ideas/improvement items and programs from beyond the assigned location. Take the initiative to share good practices with the broader fleet.
Measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of location safety processes and take the necessary steps to identify and eliminate or reduce the hazards and risks in the workplace.
