GHD has an opportunity for an Insurance and Claims Coordinator to join our Insurance Team, working closely with our North American Legal, Risk & Compliance Team, providing support to an entrepreneurial 4,000 person strong North American business. This is a full-time, Contract position through January 2025.


The role can be based in most GHD office locations throughout the US, Canada, or Chile. GHD supports a hybrid work model.

The Insurance and Claims Coordinator, North America will report directly to GHD's Insurance Manager, North America.

The key focus areas of the role will be the administration of tasks related to GHD's insurance portfolio and claims management:

  • Process certificates of insurance and surety bond requests in accordance with client contracts and liaise with insurance brokers to procure all certificates of insurance and surety bonds year-round and at renewal, in a timely manner;
  • Review client contracts for insurance clauses to identify GHD's compliance and escalate concerns;
  • Provide advice to the business about the compliance of contractors'/vendors' insurance certificates;
  • Assist with the insurance policy renewal process by collecting renewal data internally and completing insurance data management using Excel and similar systems throughout the year;
  • Review insurance policy and bond invoices for accuracy;
  • Process and track automobile and property insurance claims, including sending claim notifications to insurers, liaising with internal clients and claim adjusters to ensure accurate and timely claim resolution;
  • Assist with reporting related to liability claims including professional, general, and cyber policies;
  • Support the Legal, Risk & Compliance Team on litigation research and file preparation, as needed;
  • Support Corporate Security Officer's procurement of security clearances for project staff.

Desired skills and experience

  • The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience gained from a brokerage and/or in-house environment;
  • Candidates with experience at an engineering or professional services firm will be highly regarded;
  • Drafting, analytical, organization, time management, and task prioritization skills are essential;
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Excel skills beyond basics is essential;
  • Candidates will have excellent communication skills in order to interact effectively and efficiently with members of GHD's in-house business service teams, internal clients, and brokers;
  • French language skills would be an asset, but are not required.
