The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for a variety of skilled maintenance items including but not limited to; troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance on equipment, and other related tasks in and around the facilities.
Follows all Safety, GMP, LO/TO, PPE, NFPA70e, food safety processes, and other Land O'Lakes guidelines and site specific policies including imminent danger
Diagnoses and repairs or replace faulty components on equipment, such as filling and packing machinery
Maintains, diagnoses, troubleshoots, adjusts, repairs, rebuilds and overhauls operating equipment and systems including, but not limited to, electrical, refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulic, computers, and other mechanical items
Troubleshoot and remove and/or replace faulty components of machine such as motors, gearboxes, chain and sprockets, valves, and position sensing devices
Performs preventive maintenance tasks, and completes work orders as assigned through the CMMS
Repairs malfunctioning items lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires, sealing heaters and other equipment related to the processing area and the plant
Safely diagnoses problems and determines the repairs or adjustments on plant equipment
Welding experience preferred
Organizes, cleans and maintains workshop area, secures plant when necessary at the end of shift
Enters paperwork and work orders for maintenance records such as materials, parts, and time
May fill in for departmental absences to perform other related work as assigned.
Will be required to work overtime, some production/maintenance and/or project weekends
Communicate and work effectively with co-workers and machine operators
Follow verbal and written instructions and other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Read and understand maintenance and specification manuals/prints (In English).
One year, or more, of maintenance experience (preferably in food packaging/processing).
Use of computers (MS Office) and prepare work orders and records of service performed.
Experienced in use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment (meters, dial indicators, etc.)
Able to perform all duties of a maintenance mechanic, with little to no supervision.
Decision-making: No sole decision making responsibilities. Other than skill set and certifications allow.
Training Schedule: This position will be Re-trained every year

Time Demands:
On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.
When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs - this is a requirement of this position.
