Mental Health Clinician I (993)
Fresno, CA
CIT Field Clinicians will be co-locating and co-responding with law enforcement to provide more expedient crisis response to the Fresno Metropolitan area. The team will attempt to divert individuals in crisis away from the criminal justice system and emergency rooms by adequately providing assessment, intervention, and linkage to appropriate mental health and co-occurring disorder treatment options with 90-day brief intervention case management follow-up. Job Summary/ Purpose: Lead Clinician will be available to assist coworkers with case consultation. Occasional on call availability may be required. May be required to assist program manager with responsibilities outside of core Job duties
How will I contribute
Ability to establish trusting partnerships with law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, consumers and their family members. Must complete 5150 certification training and complete credentialing process through Fresno County Managed Care Department. Competency in identifying and quickly connecting with consumers who are experiencing behavioral crises due to mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Ability to engage consumers and safely de-escalate situations by using evidence-based practices, strength-based techniques, resiliency skills and adequate immediate linkage. Provide 90-days of brief intervention case management in the consumers home providing linkages to the Multi-Agency Access Points (MAP), Central Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline (CVSPH), faith-based and community supports to stabilize and anchor consumer and family until a warm hand off to treatment provider can be made. Researches assigned community to develop and enhance resources available for stabilization and follow up care to diminish over utilization of 911 calls as the only response option. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide crisis and brief intervention follow-up services that includes: Motivational Interviewing, assessment and linkage planning, regional resources such as faith-based and community supports, co-occurring disorders, severe mental illness, veterans issues, substance abuse, case management and linkage, strength base interventions such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), stigma reduction, trauma informed and gender specific care, cultural humility, insurance and benefits enrollment, maintaining healthy boundaries, confidentiality, child and elder abuse reporting and behavioral analysis. Seeks supervision as needed. Confers and consults with CIT Program Manager and/or Lead Field Clinician regarding pending 5150 commitments or placement of consumers in stabilization units. Demonstrates an openness to use creative and innovative approaches to providing service. Interpersonal and oral communication skills i.e., maintains confidentiality, treats community partners with respect, maintains healthy boundaries. Ability to self-regulate and utilize calmness to manage crisis situations. Ability to complete documentation appropriately and within the required time frame of three (3) days.
What I bring
Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling or related Current BBS license in good standing in the State of California. Licensure as LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, AMFT, ASW, APCC Class C Driving License Experience providing crisis services or mental health services for the severely mentally ill or co-occurring consumers. Must have a National Provider Identification (NPI) number or obtain an NPI number prior to start date. Must have clean driving record as CIT Field Clinician is required to drive company vehicles to assigned locations and consumers homes.
