This role is pivotal in setting the foundation for State Street's endeavors to strengthen the company's risk control function.

What you will be responsible for

Design and Architectural Development:


  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of a robust and scalable Wholesale credit forecast library.

  • Implement credit risk models (PD/LGD/EL) to provide quantitative support to credit risk analytical processes including CCAR/CECL/IFRS9/BASEL/Ratings/ICAAP

  • Establish and maintain a scalable architecture that supports complex quantitative models and allows for future expansion.

Quantitative Method Integration:

  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts, researcher and software engineers to define the technical and functional requirements of the library using the latest methodologies and technologies.

  • Ensure that implemented models are computationally efficient, accurate, and maintainable.

Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of comprehensive testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the library.

  • Regularly review and refactor code to maintain code quality and incorporate best practices.

Stay Updated:

  • Continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and advancements in the realm of quantitative methods (e.g. generative AI) and Python development.

  • Drive innovation by recommending and integrating new tools and techniques to keep the library at the forefront of the industry.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in application development, at least 3 years in Python, with a focus on numerical algorithms and libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).

  • Proven track record of architecting and building scalable wholesale credit libraries in a major global financial institution.

  • Working knowledge of a compiled language like C/C++ as well as high-performance computing, in a Linux environment

  • Experience in building and maintaining web services, and ideally experience contributing to open-source projects.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders


Salary Range:
$130,000 - $212,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
