Job Description:

Company Description
The Nebraska Department of Justice's Office of the Attorney General, led by General Mike Hilgers, works to keep Nebraskans safe, protect their rights, and uphold and defend the Constitution and rule of law, among other important duties. As an essential part of those efforts, the Consumer Protection Bureau enforces state and federal laws that safeguard against deceptive, fraudulent, and unfair business practices, as well as against antitrust and monopolistic activities. We passionately and proudly serve Nebraska and its consumers and businesses, including defending Nebraska's most vulnerable populations. The Bureau's work serves its motto and mission to "Protect the Good Life."

Role Description
The Nebraska Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) for its Consumer Protection Bureau. This is a full-time role located in Lincoln, NE, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Consumer Protection AAG, you will work to ensure that Nebraska consumers are protected from fraudulent and deceptive business practices, and you'll safeguard free and fair competition in the marketplace. You will serve as the frontline defense for Nebraskan consumers, both in state and multistate actions, and in enforcement efforts. Your work will help bring justice for consumers, protect vulnerable communities, shape policy, and help enact industry changes in Nebraska and nationwide.

Consumer Protection AAGs take a hands-on and often first-chair role in litigation and enforcement matters with meaningful impact. In our republic and system of federalism, the States serve a vital role in consumer protection. Your work as AAG would play a crucial part of those efforts.

Culture
The Consumer Protection Bureau's "Protect the Good Life" motto is reflected in our culture. Our team enjoys work-life balance and values ensuring ample time for family, friends, rest, and doing what we love (besides work). Many of us have left the billable hour behind to focus our time on doing meaningful, service-oriented work. We are team-players who hail from all sorts of backgrounds that are united by our passion for protecting consumers. When we aren't "fighting the good fight," our team likes to step outside the office to grab lunch, treats, or beverages together.
