The Company:

Our client manufactures high-quality electronic and mechanical locks used in a wide range of applications including gun safes, commercial safes, ATMs, vaults, and highly-sensitive SCIF environments.

The Position

The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that the overall quality of a manufactured product is quality tested and meets the standard criteria. The Quality Engineer is responsible for the generation of a strategic plan to improve business processes and increase production output. The tasks required for this role involve documentation that reflects reporting issues and errors with efforts to find a solution.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the company's ISO-certified Quality System including modifications and communication of changes to the organization, monitoring of audit schedules, and facilitating outside certification body audits.
  • Lead investigations into internal and external quality issues using methods such as A3, 5-Why, 8D, 5P, etc.
  • Maintain and monitor corrective and preventive action processes including those incurred from audit findings, product non-conformances, and supplier non-conformances. This position will interact with customers and global suppliers.
  • Coordinate transition of new/modified components and finished goods products through the validation process with manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Support and coordinate reliability testing of the internal and external laboratories for components and finished products.
  • Complete statistical studies including gage R&Rs, and capability, Pareto and trend analysis to identify manufacturing capability levels and opportunities for improvement within the manufacturing processes.
  • Accountable for leadership, decision-making, and oversight of the quality systems.
  • Works with and influences key stakeholders to develop and maintain quality standards.
  • Implements a working system to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Provides training for operators and staff on interim and permanent corrective actions put in place.

COMPETENCIES
  • Implementation of LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt certification desired) including 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and effective execution of root cause analysis and corrective actions aimed at defect prevention.
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T principles.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in the field of Quality Engineer.

COMPENSATION

At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level.
