Dominican University Visiting Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology

The Department of Sociology and Criminology is seeking a visiting lecturer for the 2024-2025 academic year to teach four undergraduate courses in the fall and four undergraduate courses in the spring. Preferred qualifications include experience with asynchronous, zoom, and in-person college teaching and history of teaching: Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, College Writing, Social Change, or equivalent courses. Successful candidates will have a record of supporting first generation, multilingual, Black, and Latinx student populations with demonstrated effectiveness in helping students build quantitative, writing, oral communication and information literacy skills, and a commitment to inclusive teaching and community building. Attendance at some university meetings required, along with some individual meetings with students.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have an MA in Criminology or Sociology, an MSW, or a JD. Candidate must have experience in college teaching.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD in Sociology or Criminology

Availability to teach in-person in River Forest and Chicago campuses strongly preferred

Teaching program on Chicago campus may include additional specialized training

Preference for candidates with experience in online zoom courses, asynchronous online courses, and face-to-face classes.
