Provides leadership in achieving key outcomes in safety, reliability, efficiency, compliance, cost, and customer service.
Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance support to Area Plant Management, and Technicians for all rotating equipment applications including compressors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, and their auxiliary systems.
Provides training, and technical assistance for operations, including direct support and troubleshooting on machinery issues within the area. Provides mechanical rotating engineering support for small area led projects and major projects led by the project execution group
Collaborates with Engineers and Technicians from all disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, etc.). Continuously improves multi discipline knowledge in relation to rotating machinery applications and functionality in industrial gas plants.
Review the quality and completeness of mechanical PM execution at assigned plant locations
Ensures implementation of Standard PM content for area rotating equipment
Directly support Area Maintenance Strategy development and execution thru machinery scope development for major maintenance planning and execution (typically >=$250K - $2M each event). Ensure that the machinery aspects of the major maintenance plan are kept updated for assigned plant locations
Supports Area with day-to-day mechanical / machinery issues, and project support
Implements changes to equipment or systems thru the management of change (MOC) process
Provides direct support for emergent plant events and ensures that comprehensive pro-active support is provided, root cause is determined, using OEM's where required, and that lessons learned are shared and implemented
Ensures equipment is fit for purpose thru maintenance planning and execution, scope/spares decisions, design reviews, HAZOP, MOC, installation, and commissioning processes. Represent the Area mechanical reliability interests for machinery related aspects thru participation in the proposal and commercialization process
Utilizes standardized turnaround work scope templates in the development of the detailed machinery work scope, budget, contractor management, execution strategy, and quality plans for turnarounds, major maintenance, etc.
Direct support in the field for major maintenance execution of machinery scope, using effective quality plans. Provide timely close out reports that provide lessons learned for continuous improvement
Support the Area for timely resolution of machinery issues leading to unplanned downtime
Track emergent plant events and ensure that comprehensive pro-active support is provided, root cause is determined, using OEM's where required, and that lessons learned are shared and implemented
Monitors history and condition of rotating equipment to determine and prioritize major maintenance scopes and requirements, including obsolescence aspects. Provide business case justifications as required to support required budgeting and timings for assigned plant locations
Monitors the use of condition monitoring techniques for rotating machinery for the area. Routinely reviews condition-based vendor data reports and provide recommendations and necessary repair plans for any noted deficiencies to ensure reliable operation (Lube oil analysis, Vibration analysis, etc.)
Participates in reliability audits and Equipment Condition Assessments. Agrees specific actions in collaboration with the Site, Area Ops, and Area Reliability hub Team
Provides input and decision making on the repair or refurbishment of major spare parts
Works with Area Planners and Procurement to identify machinery contractors and vendors.
Assess the technical competency of contractors and service providers to ensure proper scope is assigned and the expected quality is received

Professional Development:
Participates in regional training initiatives. Delivers local training materials as required to enhance capability in the field for managers, technicians, and mechanics
Participates in the Rotating Machinery Engineering Peer Team on issues of best practices, learnings, lessons from incidents, standards, industry trends, new technology, etc. are shared
Participates in expert user panels or associations and maintain network of industry best practice and service providers. Stays abreast of latest equipment design, codes and standards, monitoring, and service trends to determine opportunities verse the existing machinery portfolio. Translate network knowledge into local application.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
10 years of combined experience with at least 5 years in an operational and engineering environment working with rotating machinery
Self-started and self-directed with ability to manage multiple activities
Demonstrated ability to follow through to completion on projects and issues
Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment or independently as required
Good technical and communication skills with solid interpersonal skills
Knowledgeable and experienced working with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of compressors, pumps, fans, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, and their auxiliary systems.
Knowledge of predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies as well as interpretation of the data (Vibration monitoring, oil analysis, thermography, etc.)
Knowledge and experience working with and troubleshooting high speed rotating machinery
General understanding of regulatory and industry standards and codes
