Arkansas Talent Group is working an exclusive role with our construction client in Blytheville, AR and are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and reporting for construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial information, and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for construction projects
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific accounting standards
Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Revenue Recognition
Manage the WIP process, including tracking costs, billings, and revenue recognition for construction projects
Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, IFRS 15)
Collaborate with project managers to review project estimates, change orders, and contract modifications
Analyze project profitability and provide regular updates to management
Operational Support
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors
Provide hands-on support to project teams, addressing accounting and financial queries
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and legal, to ensure accurate financial reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting or a related field
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Experience with construction project management software (Acumatica preferred)
Knowledge of construction industry best practices and regulations
Familiarity with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting methods
