Brilliant® is an award-winning contract and consulting practice headquartered in Chicago and specializing in accounting, finance, technology and business solutions for the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S. labor markets.

Our client, a start-up Energy Tech company, is looking for an Accounting Manager consultant to assist with a long-term Finance Transformation project. The role would be a blend of supporting monthly accounting, financial statements, and internal reporting while focusing heavily on supporting the transformation activities, including project management, process improvements, process mapping, documentation, change management, and leadership discussion. This individual will be a true consultant and ninja across the organization during this project and manage a portion of the transformational change across the Finance organization. This is a consulting project, targeting a 9-12 month timeline. Hybrid 3 days on-site, SW subs of Chicago.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist accounting team in oversight and review of monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, financial statement preparation, consolidations, and financial reporting.
  • Implement best practices for finance operations, financial accounting & reporting, forecasting, planning & analysis, budgeting & control, treasury, taxation, etc.
  • Measure and track the benefits of the finance transformation program against established goals and targets.
  • Manage program communications and stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear, concise, and timely updates and maintaining alignment between the program and the organization's overall strategic direction.
  • Support continual process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Support implementation of financial systems, including upgrades and training.
  • Monitor and report on program performance, including metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of finance transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and finance leadership.
  • Support all ad hoc projects such as acquisition, M&A accounting.
  • Develop and implement change management plans, including communication, training, and other related deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • B.A. degree in accounting, finance, or related business function.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate accounting, project or team leadership roles preferred.
  • Prefer CPA certification and/or public accounting experience.
  • Experience in multi-entity business.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting or managing finance transformation projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Implementation or migration experience with finance technology applications and platforms, including financial systems and reporting tools, ERP systems, and automation tools/applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
