Position Summary
The Associate Engineer, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, will plan, schedule, review, coordinate, and assist in the design and construction of water transmission and distribution systems, reservoirs and pump stations.
Specific Responsibilities
Requests, analyzes, and interprets maps to indicate existing and proposed utilities on simple to moderate construction plans to avoid design conflicts and maintain TWC and applicable governmental requirements and standards
Conducts plan reviews on plans submitted by outside consultants working on behalf of developers
Tracks project status including project schedule and budget. Requests, analyzes, and converts moderate to complex digital information such as digital surveys for construction design and consultant's digital designs to meet TWC's computer standard settings
Designs and/or evaluates simple to moderate construction plans of wastewater, water and facility projects; obtains necessary permits and itemizes construction documentation for moderate to
complex construction plans of wastewater, water and facility projects
Prepares and/or evaluates project record drawings including performing field verification and coordinating with various internal/external, office and field personnel such as consultants, Project Engineers, and Geographic Information System (GIS) staff as needed to ensure final approval of record drawings for TWC projects
Resolves internal and external challenges pertaining to wastewater, water and facility projects
Identifies key issues in meetings and relays important information to department
employees from participation in meetings
Conducts on-site field inspections
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform complex engineering mathematical calculations
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
0-4 years of professional engineering work experience related to water systems and facilities.
Consideration will be given to applicants with experience in other civil engineering related areas.
EIT required within first 6 months of employment.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
