Sr. IT Analyst - Applications
The Senior IT Analyst provides leadership in the development of technical requirements and support analyst in the resolution of support issues. Participates in the design, system testing and user acceptance phases of the application development lifecycle.
What You Will Do:
- Proactively execute business support processes and activities for the implementation of new or existing applications.
- Track reoccurring support issues and lead support team through resolution and root cause analysis processes to identify permanent fixes for those issues.
- Drive the efficiency and effectiveness of application operations and troubleshoot problems, as necessary.
- Converting customer requirements into technical system & software requirements for development teams.
- Lead the design, prototype, and testing of applications enhancements.
- Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
- Participate in Standups, Planning meetings, and Retrospectives associated with Agile processes.
- Manage information technology controls compliance for the team.
- Responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
- Provide a supportive work environment for the team; mentor, coach, and develop others.
Core Application Systems:
- Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
- Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems.
- Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
- Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
- Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
- Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
- Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.
- Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.
- Verifies the proper flow of transactions across all input, output and storage channels or devices.
- Evaluates interoperability of new systems with existing systems during the beta testing phase.
- Designs processes to ensure that the system meets and maintains requirements and expectations.
- Discovers, analyzes, and resolves hardware, software, or application problems.
- Handles calls related to product features, applications, and compatibility standards.
- Analyzes code, logs, and current systems as part of advanced troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) service; ability to manage IT services and oversee service operations.
- Promotes the use of standard procedures in each function of IT services.
- Typically, this position will require an accredited, four-year Information Technology degree, a closely related technical degree, or equivalent experience.
- Experience providing technical support and working directly with business organizations.
- Good technical and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Caterpillar IT policies, standards, and procedures.
- Location for this role is Peoria, IL, Dallas, TX or Nashville, TN - REQUIRED 3 DAYS ONSITE.
