Caterpillar is looking for candidates that want to build a career. This is a rare opportunity to join the Caterpillar Athens team as a direct hire. Opening on 1st shift. Position starts at $19.35/hour, quarterly goal sharing program and a comprehensive benefit program that begins on Day 1 . Employment includes a 2-week training program.

Performs various product audit functions on components, systems and or machines.

Job duties may include the following:

  • Compile daily inventory reports as well as system audits to reconcile the actual number of parts in the factory with system records.
  • Ensure that inventory is sufficient to meet build requirements and to communicate potential shortages to material planners.
  • Coordinate and monitor off-line rework activities.
  • Cross-functional communication to complete tasks. Daily inventory counts for all production material and work with various departments to trace and locate missing material.
  • Produce reports on inventory discrepancies due to unrecorded movement.
  • Gather data from various tools and tooling systems and prepare data reports for calibration analysis and review.
  • Catalogue quality issues into a computer system and flag defects for repair.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have at least 2 years Logistics/Warehouse experience
  • Must have Intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) in Microsoft Excel
Physical requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15 to 30 minutes
  • Work at heights of up to 20 feet from the floor
  • Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
  • Walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes
Top Candidates will also have:
  • Intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) in SAP software
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Forklift experience
  • Inventory control experience
  • An understanding of Logistics facility and Excavator/Tractor Product Line
  • Intermediate proficiency in functional areas of logistics such as: Inventory Management, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Storeroom Operations and Transportation
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of people
  • Good attendance, excellent customer service focus, and the ability to handle stress and often work at an urgent pace
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Initiative, good analytical and organizational skill
