Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Trainer Tracking Code1043-674Job DescriptionCNA Trainers are responsible for excellent and effective teaching in the classroom, lab and clinical setting. Trainers interact with learners as teacher, advisor and mentor.
Major Responsibilities:
Directs the learning activities of students in classroom, clinical and practicum settings.
Evaluates the academic, clinical and practicum competencies of students.
Maintains a cooperative relationship with personnel in agencies utilized for student clinical and practicum experiences.
Maintains student records of academic, clinical, and practicum achievement. Archives course material and documents related to student performance.
Submits final evaluations of students clinical and practicum performance to the appropriate leader.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalentMust hold an Illinois license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Have successfully completed a Department-approved evaluator course prior to initial approval. Registered nurses possessing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher are exempt from this requirement.Have two years' experience as a registered professional nurse and one year of experience in one of the following areas:
Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program;Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or for chronically ill adults; orOne year of experience in the provision of long term care facility services or direct care
Other Qualifications:
Proficient computer skills in basic word processing and slideshow creation.
Familiarity and adaptability to student and information management systems (i.e. Preferably Blackboard)
