Position summary:

Responsible for collecting groundwater samples, surface water samples, measure depth to water, and water quality field measurements on a routine basis from monitor wells.  Documents sampling activities and field data. Performs sampling in compliance with the permit-prescribed schedule. Coordinates sample submittal with on-site or off-site laboratories.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Transport portable generators and sampling equipment to wellsites via pickup, trailer or snowcat.
• Connect portable generators to submersed pumps, starts pump and after sufficient water purge, collect water samples.
• Measures and documents well depths, water flow, and field measured water parameters.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment, electric and mechanical.
• Hooking and unhooking of a light trailer and being able to operate a vehicle with trailer attached.
• Use forklift to load and unload generator assemblies from and to equipment.
• Assist in replacing pumps as necessary to obtain samples.
• Comply with stringent regulatory, safety, and corporate requirements.
• Troubleshoot and correct issues with instrumentation and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential qualifications and responsibilities:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good oral and written communicate skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals), and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, management, and department head staff and various agency personnel.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured. Ability to operate Company vehicles.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile, and to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; routinely required to use hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Routine vision and hearing abilities required. Operate a vehicle with trailer, hook and unhook light trailer, and operate motorized equipment and tools. 

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
