Sr. Product Application Engineer - Power Products

The Product Application Engineer (PAE) position is responsible to provide both pre-sales and post-sales technical expertise to co-engineer power products applications in OEM and industrial applications. The PAE will engineer power protection and electrical load management solutions using Schneider Electric technologies according to standards ( UL, NEC, NFPA). The PAE will occasionally travel to the customer sites to lead proof of concept discussions and advanced technical support. The PAE will identify and qualify needs for new offer and/or functions development to better address the customer needs.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the below duties:


  • Understand OEM power product requirements and prescribe power protection and load management solutions including circuit breakers, contactors, starters, and safety switches.

  • Grow Power Products Transactional Business Market Share in targeted sales areas and drive growth at OEM/EOEM targeted accounts in the geography covered.

  • Deploy new offer launches in the field. Drive acceptance and attendance of our main launch deployment vehicles in the field.

  • Work with Sales teams to raise competencies around Power Products and support the Sales cycle.

  • Work with our distributors and channels partners, providing training and supporting new opportunities.

  • Identify and execute technical sales activities on new customer leads for existing and new offers.

  • Drive technical product conversion from the competition to Schneider Electric products.

  • Present Unique Value Proposition of Power Products across wide breadth of target audiences: Customers, Technical Support Groups, Sales, Segments, Sales Ops, Distributors, OEMs, End Users, Co-Partner Businesses.

  • Work closely with business forecasting leader to update the Power Products Division forecast based on data from the field.

  • Use new technologies in Business Development activities: 3D interactive models, video (tutorial, promotion, UVP), mobile apps, mobile web, interactive training, self-served web tools, simple selectors, and web searches.

  • Educate our field organization to better use digital tools. Create technical documents / white papers to share application knowledge, experience, customer success stories or best practices

  • Identify & qualify the needs for new offer or functions development to better address connected products application requirement, and work with global / local line of business to validate & create offers.


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed.


  • Four-year degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, master's degree will be a plus.

  • Experience in UL508 electrical panel design and NEC requirements on industrial electrical systems

  • 8 - 10 years of professional technical experience in the Industrial segment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to influence and persuade internal and external stake holders, listen effectively, and solicit input from others.

  • Good understanding of industrial communications systems for smart/connected systems a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple tasks from a variety of stakeholders

  • 30% Travel

For this STATE based position, the expected compensation range is $112,000 - $155,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
