Research Assistant 2- Biomedical Engineer

Overview

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, bioengineering or related field with the ability to manage basic laboratory operations, including instrumentation maintenance, biosafety, lab orders, inventory and general lab support. A strong preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in microfluidics, organs on a chip, 3D modeling and 3D printing. Expertise with computational biology and analysis of gene datasets is highly desirable. Experience in editing grants and manuscripts is a plus.



Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field
  • Experience with organs-on-a-chip, 3D printing or tissue engineering
  • Able to conduct research in a multidisciplinary, fast paced research environment, occasionally with tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently, conducting biological and engineering related experiments with cells and microfluidic devices
  • Able to stand at a lab bench, sit at a microscope, perform laboratory manipulations, move and carry light lab equipment, perform image analysis experiments, operate computers and related software, communicate easily with co-workers and support staff, assist and instruct other lab members with scientific methods


Qualifications



  • Previous experience with 3D modeling and analysis of gene datasets
  • Previous experience with CAD design, development and optimization of microfluidic devices, plasma bonding, 3D printing
  • Previous experience with cell culture Experience with establishment of protocols and SOPs, lab organization and inventory track
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills, growth and inclusive mindset, along with the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and effective time management are crucial for success in this role
