The Role:

The Entegris Manufacturing site in San Luis Obispo, California is seeking a driven Technical Document Writer to join our Manufacturing and Operations team. The primary role of the hired individual will be to review processes, create process flows, write work instructions, and help improve procedures based on best-known methods and regular process reviews.

The documentation that is managed by the new Technical Document Writer will be used to educate improvement across the factory, both with manufacturing processes and procedures and on-the-job training methods and job certifications.

In this role you will:

  • Work with Engineers, Supervisors, and Operators to understand the gaps in documentation and how best to alleviate those gaps.
  • Create process flows to establish stable processes and reduce variability.
  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering to create work instructions that are highly detailed and easy for operators to follow so jobs can be completed successfully.
  • Lead teams to update and create documentation for a complex, vertically integrated manufacturing facility. Will leverage tools such as Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and other enterprise level applications.
  • Review documentation with engineering and supervisors to ensure accuracy.
  • Update documents based on findings from excursions, continuous improvement activities, and operator feedback.
  • Outline PPE requirements and safety aspects in work instructions to ensure safe process is followed.
  • Be trained on and understand critical manufacturing processes; utilize that knowledge to create on-the-job training resources that will allow successful evaluations of Operators during the certification process.
  • Identify strategic improvement opportunities within documentation process.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • At least 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • An Associate Degree or higher with a focus on technical writing preferred.
  • Previous experience with documentation, preferably in a technical environment.
  • Ability to be trained and desire to learn about manufacturing processes in a technical environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to be organized, prioritize, and multi-task across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience in a Lean environment would be ideal.

What We Offer:

  • Hourly rate in the $36-43 range.
