Job Summary
The Program Director is responsible for overall operations of managing of Dana’s House, a Behavioral Health Residential Program. This includes overseeing staff including clinical case manager, house manager, and case aids.

The Program Director ensures proper documentation of clinical caseloads, evaluating program components, and ensuring the program meets all required standards with both he the Department of Corrections contract requirements and Dept of Health Licensing.


The Program Director collaborates with community partners and maintains ongoing communication with referral sources to ensure the program addresses the needs of its residents.


This is a full-time, 40-hrs/week, exempt position that will be working in our New Haven, CT location. This position is eligible for benefits and has a starting salary of $70k/yr.



Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and schedule all staff.
  • Conduct staff and clinical treatment team meetings regularly along with staff psychiatrist.
  • Ensure client accountability, review and audit client electronic health records.
  • Monitor compliance with DOC, DPH, Fire Marshal, and PREA standards.
  • Share Emergency weekly 24/7 On-Call responsibilities with other management staff to address staff questions after business hours.
  • Plan, monitor, and maintain a comprehensive schedule of activities for residents, managing program funds.
  • Oversee the staff’s coordination of resources for residents, including education, peer support, employment, medical appointments and recreational activities.
  • Manage the intake and referral process, including review and approval of referrals
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the program and staff performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and handle disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide ongoing staff supervision and professional development.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development and ensure their proper implementation.
  • Ensure budgeted targets are met.
  • Lead weekly Clinical Team meetings with the Assistant Director, Parole Officer, Psychiatric Prescriber, and Case Manager.
  • Participate in Family Reentry leadership meeting as part of the management team.
  • Participate in periodic committees and workgroups for CRJ.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners and other resources.
  • Attend meetings with administrative staff and program managers.
  • Evaluate program outcomes to meet or exceed funding standards.
  • Participate in budget meetings and approve bi-weekly staff timesheets.
  • Ensure program is audit-ready and compliant with standards and regulations.

  • Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing at-risk populations in a congregant setting.
  • At least 2 years of related supervisory experience specifically in a behavioral health setting.
  • Master’s degree and professional licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT) preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in behavioral health and with returning citizens is highly valued.

  • Occasional in-state travel for meetings and training.
