Job Description:

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Wattsburg Area School District is looking for a qualified candidate for a Building Maintenance position. This is a 1st shift position and starting pay is $24.76/hour.

Shift: Full time, first shift, 8 hours per day Pay Rate: $24.76/hour

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Building Maintenance Technician in our schools. The ideal candidate will be certified in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC. Experience or background in HVAC preferred. Candidates should also have a basic understanding of carpentry, plumbing, ventilation, and general maintenance tasks. This role is critical in ensuring our facilities remain functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform basic carpentry tasks, such as repairing doors, door locks, and minor structural repairs.

· Handle plumbing issues including fixing sinks, repairing leaks, and unclogging drains and toilets.

· Assist with ventilation maintenance and repair.

· Carry out painting and floor repair as needed.

· Clean and maintain the shop area to ensure a safe and orderly environment.

· Use a variety of hand tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repair tasks.

· Work independently to prioritize and complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Certification in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC preferred.

· Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.

· Experience in building maintenance or a related field.

· Experience with a variety of hand tools.

· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Required Clearances:

· Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training; and

· Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure; and

· Health physical and tuberculin skin test required.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects as needed.

· Comfortable working in various environments and conditions, including outdoors and confined spaces.

 

Working Conditions:

· This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.

· The maintenance person may be exposed to chemicals and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
