Custodian at WATTSBURG AREA SCHOOL DIST in Erie, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

CUSTODIAN 

The Wattsburg Area School District is looking for candidates for Custodial positions to provide a clean and safe environment for the students and staff of the district.   

Shift: Primarily 2nd Shift, 3:30PM to 11:00PM, Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday 
Pay Rate: $18.41 per hour, 210 days per school year.  ($1.00 per hour premium pay for 2nd Shift) 

Overview: 
We are seeking an energetic, responsible individual to keep campus buildings clean.  The ideal candidate will be cooperative, hard-working and reliable in all aspects of the position.  The candidate should be able to work independently under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Follow verbal and written instructions and work independently in assigned areas dusting, mopping, sweeping, wiping surfaces, walls, windows and mirrors, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning carpets and operating relevant equipment required for these duties. 

• Assist in setting up, cleaning and tearing down for evening activities, meetings, games or other scheduled events. 

• Unload, store and dispense general supplies and maintain a working inventory of such supplies and assist with the unloading and storage of cafeteria supplies as necessary. 

• Perform minor building repairs such as replacing light bulbs, repair toilet/urinal flush valves, and painting of walls, doors and trim and assist maintenance personnel when necessary. 

• Clean and maintain outdoor areas as required including trash, leaf and snow removal, keeping dumpster areas clean and report any misuse or damage of the grounds to the supervisor. 

• Follow proper procedures for performing repairs, chemical usage, equipment care and operation and employee safety. 

 Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED 

• Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude 

• Some relevant experience preferred 

 

Required Clearances: 

• Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training; and 

• Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure; and 

• Health physical and tuberculin skin test required. 

 Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time. 

• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, grasp, stretch, climb ladders and work above heights of four feet. 

• Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform heavy, manual tasks and have manual dexterity. 

• Ability to work with products that may be accompanied by fumes and/or odors 

• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to forty pounds unassisted and lift or move up to 100 pounds assisted (furniture, supplies, equipment, snow removal, etc.) 

• Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment and hand/power tools.
