JOB DESCRIPTION



We are seeking a Crop Insurance Agent to join our Farm Credit family! This position is responsible for selling and servicing all types of crop insurance coverage. The crop insurance position builds strong relationships with industry contacts, AgSouth's teams in the service territory, and with the customer. This position uses knowledge of insurance and agriculture to provide contacts with value added information and customized solutions for their individual needs.



RESPONSIBILITIES



Sales and Marketing: Solicit crop insurance business. Write new crop insurance policies for walk-in and telephone customers. Determine the customers' needs, complete and provide quotes, and transmits information. Write, deliver and service-related crop insurance policies and products to customers. Maintain an active database of key prospects, key customers, and generate an ongoing list of new prospects. Refer (cross sell) new crop insurance customers to sales officer for new loan business. Responsible for marketing crop insurance and assist with life insurance in assigned area. Make group sales presentations and provide training for other team members, customers, and the public.


Risk Management and Compliance: Identify risks and offer solutions to farmers for the financial risk in their farming operation. Responsible for compliance with all applicable insurance laws, regulations, and all insurance company policies; and will be responsible for obtaining information needed for the insurance company to underwrite policies according to all appropriate laws and regulations. Provide information, compile, check/verify and submit all insurance documents to customer, AIP and AgSouth as required timely.


Technical Competence and General Support: Ensure the technical aspects of crop insurance processing and tracking (in assigned offices) are timely, accurate, and in compliance with policies and procedures. Support assigned office locations by communicating clearly on customer issues, and providing support when needs for other AgSouth products/services are identified. Build and maintain expertise in the areas of agriculture, risk management, insurance and technology and the needs of the Ag producer market.



REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, or related
  • At least three years of experience in crop insurance or sales of financial services
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Crop Insurance Companies' policies and procedures and all applicable insurance law and regulations.
  • Ability to travel extensively across the organization/assigned territory via auto to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under minimal supervision.
