We are seeking a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety standards in accordance with all Federal and State regulations for Garmin Properties.
Essential Functions
Coordinate/maintain training of Garmin's safety and environmental programs
Maintain/update company-wide Material Safety Data sheets
Administer company-wide safety management and conduct training for programs such as Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, Hazardous Material Disposal, and Emergency Management
Represent Garmin International to external organizations regarding facility environmental, health and safety
Maintain hazardous/nonhazardous waste programs by collecting and disposing of materials in accordance with Federal/State standards
Monitor for changes in OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) or other applicable regulatory agencies that may affect ongoing business activities
Maintain accident investigation and near miss reports for incidents on Garmin property
Responsible for developing process improvements on existing safety programs
Conduct site inspections to assess compliance with company safety policies and procedures
Monitor Contractor safety programs
Provide continuous swift, and accurate feedback to Operations Management regarding all Safety matters
Assist in maintaining established departmental policies/procedures
Coordinate and track EHS communication and participation
Assist with evaluations of equipment and processes to ensure personnel safety and facilitate conflict resolution
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in environmental health and safety or related Health or Safety field AND a minimum of 2 years environment health and safety work experience performing a role substantially like the essential functions of this job description OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Demonstrated knowledge of safety, hazardous materials and environmental regulation and practices
Must possess demonstrated project management experience relevant to Garmin's business needs for performing the essential functions of this role
Must possess demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and state and federal regulations
Must be familiar with and possess a working knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse processes relevant for successful performance of this role
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines
Must possess proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be detail-oriented, work proactively/effectively with little supervision while exercising sound judgment, and must demonstrate a high level of professionalism
Desired Qualifications
Safety or Environmental related Professional Certifications, ex. CSP, CIH, CHMM
Hazard Analysis experience
ISO management experience
