Our scientific topics in our research laboratories range from atomic level investigation of biomolecules to integrated studies of organismal biology and disease. See https://biochemistry.stanford.edu/ for more information on our department.We are seeking a Communications and Faculty Affairs Manager to join our team and lead our efforts to implement, manage, and administer our department communications and initiatives. In this role, you will be a central member of our administrative team responsible for our internal and external communications by managing our website, department listservs and newsletters, creating and distributing alumni newsletters and connecting with our alumni, and organizing and implementing our annual Biochemistry Department Research Conference. You will work with our Department Chair and Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) to manage and implement processes for and serve as our department representative for faculty affairs, faculty searches, and JEDI initiatives and events. You will create and implement staff team building opportunities and process improvement practices. Are you independent, curious, collaborative, and creative? Duties include:* Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
* Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
* Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function
* Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
* Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
* May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.
* May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff.
* - Other duties may also be assignedThe expected pay range for this position is $99,015 to $126,383 per annum.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* 2-3 years of experience working in an academic environment and/or as an executive assistant.
* Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software, email applications, website building/managing applications, and cloud-based collaboration sites/software (Google Drive, Box, SmartSheets, WordPress, etc.).
* Proven success in following through and completing projects.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
