About the Position
We have an opportunity for a Supported Employment Specialist at our Central Clinic in Medford, Oregon. The Supported Employment Specialist will facilitate assessment, placement, training/coaching, and long-term job retention support of clients with persistent mental illness to both achieve and maintain community-based competitive employment or self-employment. They will be responsible for client and employer orientation activities, arranging for job related support such as transportation, reporting to Social Security, and direct training/coaching and support of the client on the job for job retention. The Supported Employment Specialist will encourage client socialization, self-help, communication, and coping strategies to assist in achieving client-driven vocational goals. They will strive to close the gap created by cultural or language barriers to assist client in obtaining and retaining employment.
Vocational Training Program
For applicants starting as a QMHA-R, ColumbiaCare offers a Vocational Training Program to accelerate the training, on-the-job experiential learning, and testing preparation for qualified employees to achieve the 1000 supervised hours required to complete their certification as a QMHA-I. Through this program, this certification can be achieved in as little as 6 months. This is an optional program.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Full Time, Day). Regular travel is required between various programs and locations within the Rogue Valley.
What You’ll Make
$27.20 - $30.00 per hour DOE/Credentials.
Additional 5% Language Differential offered for Bilingual or Multilingual candidates (Spanish/English desired).
About the Program
ColumbiaCare’s Supported Employment & Education Program offers individualized supports for Jackson Care Connect (JCC) members with a mental illness as they pursue gainful employment, and/or education. We work to identify opportunities that match their interests, skills and abilities. Support can include helping a person identify a job/education goal, obtain the job/education, and be successful in the job and/or education environment over time. We start with people where they are at- regardless of prior work history, criminal justice involvement or other barriers.
ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
What You’ll Need
If not already registered as a QMHA through the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO), we will assist you in registering within 30 days of hire.
Vocational Training Program: Employees in the optional Vocational Training Program will have additional training expectations to meet the requirements for QMHA testing.
Driving is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently sit, talk, listen, and use hands and fingers. It may require the ability to occasionally walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable; as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
