We are seeking a full-time Aviation Systems Engineering Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to support successful conception, development, and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems by creating, gathering, and documenting cohesive customer and regulatory requirements, supporting system level designs and subsequent installation and certification in aircraft, and assuring system compliance to all requirements, including quantitative compliance with robustness needs.
Essential Functions
Support engineers to maintain and communicate requirements, allocate requirements among subsystems, and assure compatibility among subsystems so that the product ultimately meets its final objectives
Participate in product design activities including electrical, software, or mechanical development
Conduct verification and validation testing in accordance with formal or informal test plans
AVIATION SYSTEMS ENGINEER INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with customers and project engineers by assisting with development of concepts for complex products including product definition, feasibility study, and market analysis
Help research emerging technologies and components which have potential to provide a competitive advantage
Assist with collecting information regarding product required functionality, manufacturing, installation, operating environment and interfaces, and utilize the information to guide product design decisions
AVIATION SYSTEMS TEST ENGINEER INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with full time associates to assist in the verification of OEM requirements
Verification may include opportunities to generate automated test scripts
Provide feedback to development teams to ensure solutions are designed to meet system requirements
AVIATION CYBERSECURITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with internal engineering teams and OEM partners to plan, design and develop security architectures to meet certification and business requirements
Assist with performing security assessments of proposed and existing avionics systems using applicable industry guidance and methods
FLIGHT CONTROLS SYSTEMS ENGINEER INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help develop systems requirements for autopilot/flight director systems including system performance, system interfaces, architecture, and algorithms
Analyze and test existing autopilot systems to determine transport delays and appropriate control system response
Basic Qualifications
Completed coursework in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent education or experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Experience and/or training in working with cross functional teams
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong analytical skills
Other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects being developed
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience working with avionics products and/or designing electrical systems
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Pilot's License
