Job Title: Corporate Retail Store Associate
Department/Location: Itasca, Illinois
Position Type: Temporary with potential for permanent hire
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Dress Code: Business casual (jeans, boots/work shoes, clean tennis shoes)



BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:



Our client is a Member-Owned and Member-Driven organization. This Retail Associate will be responsible for delivering an exceptional shopper experience and effectively representing their products and brands in the onsite store. As the face of the store, you will assist customers, manage inventory, ensure store cleanliness, and support daily store operations. This role will also involve identifying process improvements and working closely with team members to ensure the store operates efficiently and maintains a positive shopping environment for our members.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Customer Service: Provide friendly, helpful service to all customers, assisting with inquiries and product recommendations. Use customer feedback to improve product assortment and the shopping experience.


  • Product Management: Partner with Category Management and Brand Teams to maintain an up-to-date and product assortment. Actively promote best sellers and new products.


  • Sales and Promotions: Develop and execute promotional opportunities to highlight items and brands, supporting special events or new launches. Collaborate with Category Management and Marketing teams on sales strategies.


  • Inventory & Procurement: Manage the store's product procurement process, ensuring timely stock replenishment and proper order entry into the POS system. Conduct inventory controls in partnership with Supply Chain.


  • Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized store environment, ensuring displays, shelves, equipment, and aisles are orderly. Regularly update signage and ensure a positive visual presentation.


  • Food Safety: Establish and maintain food safety standards, ensuring all products are safe for consumption.


  • Transaction Management: Accurately process transactions using the POS system, handle cash and non-cash transactions, and collaborate with the Finance department for record-keeping.


  • Support Team Operations: Assist with other tasks or projects as needed across various departments to ensure smooth store operations.


  • Other Duties: Perform additional related duties as assigned.


PERFORMANCE EVALUATION CRITERIA:



Successful performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Accuracy and completeness of store transactions

  • Proper inventory management and stock levels

  • Timely ordering and stock replenishment

  • Positive customer feedback and experience

  • Clean, organized, and well-maintained store environment


QUALIFICATIONS:




Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in retail or business preferred.


Previous Experience:

  • 2+ years of retail experience, including proficiency with point-of-sale systems.

  • Prior customer service experience is highly preferred.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with POS systems and cash registers.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.


Other Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately on a daily basis.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a "customer-friendly" attitude.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Basic math skills for transaction handling and inventory management.

  • Willingness to perform physical tasks such as stocking and cleaning.


PERSONALITY AND PROFILE:



We are looking for a candidate with a customer service-oriented background, ideally someone who enjoys interacting with customers, managing inventory, and taking ownership of store operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced retail environment. They should have a positive, approachable demeanor and be ready to represent the TopShoppe brand in a professional and welcoming manner.



INTERVIEW PROCESS:




  1. Initial Interview (1 hour, in-person):


    • 30-minute session with HR

    • 30-minute session with the hiring manager





ADDITIONAL NOTES:


  • Start Date: ASAP - the store is opening next week!


  • Position Duration: Temporary, with the possibility of permanent hire.


  • Work Environment: Retail store in a corporate setting, Monday-Friday work schedule (no weekend shifts).
