SEMICONDUCTOR & ASSEMBLY SOLUTIONS (SAS)

Who are we looking for?

The Machinist will analyze specifications, lay out and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair tools and dies requiring skill and a basic knowledge of tooling practice and application. They will use required precision instruments for exacting measurements

What will you be doing?

  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies or assemblies
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
  • Visualize and compute dimension, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications
  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
  • Conduct test runs with complete tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications and adjust as necessary
  • Work with Production and Engineering to help set up dies and reduce set up time on production floor

The incumbent of this position must have a high school degree and be an experienced machinist/toolmaker or possess an apprenticeship certificate/diploma, have a minimum of five plus years related experience, or have an equivalent combination of education/training and experience

What competencies will you need?

  • Must be able to operate all tool room equipment. Wire Electric Discharging Machine (EDM) a plus. (CNC Mill and grinder machine)
  • Ability to troubleshoot dies and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment.
  • Occasional business travel (less than 5%) is required.
  • Ability to follow SOP, work instructions, safety instructions and regulations, adhere to OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Ability to gather production data, collect proper production records and setting information.
  • Ability to operate and perform measurements on quality control equipment including collection of product QC data.
