About the Position:





Stanford Libraries is seeking a full-time Senior Facilities Manager.Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Facilities, this position will directly manage a team of 4 - 5 full-time staff; oversee the entirety of the Libraries' mailroom services operations; support other Libraries departments in the planning and implementation of collection moves, relocations, and removal, both within the organization as well as to/from external entities (including international); and perform facilities project management, leading medium to large facilities projects through Stanford University's full project delivery process from initial concept and scope definition through planning, execution, monitoring, and project close.




Library facilities support multiple space use types, including academic library and patron-study spaces; secure collections storage (monitored via alarm and video surveillance 24x7); archival processing; physical, digital, and multimedia preservation labs; high-density, cold storage preservation facilities; academic and administrative offices; and warehouse-like storage spaces.




Buildings are located both on campus and off campus, including locations in Redwood City, Livermore, Newark, and Monterey.Facility locations are subject to change based on the needs of Stanford Libraries.





Core Duties:





  • Oversee the daily operation and management of assigned facilities and programs, including scheduling and assigning work to staff and coordinating with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors; coaching lower level managerial staff; overseeing staffing and performance evaluation of assigned staff; contributing to department or division staffing needs forecast.



  • Clarify and resolve problems spanning multiple areas or technical fields, oversee or develop programs and projects within assigned scope, execute communication plan and facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendations and consensus.



  • Manage and/or develop budget for area of responsibility and estimate requirements for resources, including staffing, maintenance, materials, contracts, and time required to complete projects.



  • Manage ongoing service contracts as applicable.



  • Participate in department/unit strategic management, including making recommendations involving short-term planning for facility-type projects and for longer-range programs/projects; providing input into long-range financial, budgeting, and programmatic planning and development; providing input into the development of policies and procedures; interpret and manage policies and procedures for assigned area.



  • Oversee and/or monitor project activities; ensure integration with larger unit goals; coordinate with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS






    Education and Experience:





    ·Bachelor's degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience. Two or more years of experience managing facilities operations and maintenance staff in an environment with a variety of building types (administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, residential & dining facilities, auditoriums, etc.).Relevant experience may include managing projects of moderate size/complexity.






    Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:





  • Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.



  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with others, build relationships, and engage and influence cross-functional teams.



  • Demonstrated experience managing service contracts.



  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets.



  • Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and implementing programs and delivering projects.



  • Ability to interpret planning specifications, documents, working drawings, and related reports.



  • Demonstrated ability to practice sound judgment, juggle multiple priorities, and follow up on issues proactively.




  • Certifications and Licenses:


    ·Valid California Non-commercial Driver's License






    Physical Requirements:





  • Frequently stand/walk, seated, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.



  • ·Occasionally climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.





    ·Rarely, kneel/crawl, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.





    ·Ability to maintain a California Non-commercial Class license and drive day or night.





  • Auditory acuity with ability to hear horns and bells.



  • Visual acuity with ability to determine colors for finishes.

    Working Conditions:





    ·Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.


    ·May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA.


    ·May work at heights 4 - 10 ft.

    The expected pay range for this position is $143,719-$160,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
