MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY The Bleach Line Operator, under immediate direction of the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for the operation of the bleach line and all related supporting equipment
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Production Line Operation:
Open cotton bales and position them into the Blendomat according to a predetermined blend and laydown mapping.
Starting/stopping the production line and all supporting equipment. Operating bale presses, wiring/wrapping bales and relocating the waste and finished bales to designated locations.
Weigh and create bale labels for finished bleached bales.
Closely monitor bleach line support rooms (filtration, boiler, pump house and chemical areas) for irregularities and address as required.
Perform required testing of fiber and finish/chemical levels.
Enter shift production details in designated spreadsheet.
Report any fiber quality issues to Shift Supervisor, QA Tech & Supervisor, and Plant Management.
Assist Lead Mechanic with required maintenance and cleaning.
Other duties as assigned
Housekeeping:
Keeping the department and equipment clean by blowing out, washing, wiping down and sweeping as required.
Remove all trash, bags, bale wires, straps from area and recycle where possible.
Return all working materials (brooms, tools, hoses, etc.) to proper area when not in use.
Recycle all clean cotton back into the production line where applicable.
Keep scales and desk area clean and neat
Safety:
It is necessary for employees in this position to work in a very safe way to avoid work-related injuries.
All machine safety guards should be in place and equipment doors should be kept closed and in operating position at all times the machines are running.
If employees notice any safety concerns, this should immediately be brought to the attention of their supervisor.
Must use all required PPE for each task associated with job (some PPE that will be required for various tasks: ear plugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, face shields, chemical gloves, cut resistant gloves/sleeves, chemical resistant apron etc.)
This position will require the ability to understand the usage of various chemicals within the process, the safety hazards associated with each, and the appropriate handling procedures and required PPE.

EXPERIENCE Prior work experience in manufacturing.
EDUCATION High school graduate or GED equivalent
SKILLS
Basic English reading and writing skills
Basic math skills i.e. adding, subtracting, and multiplication
Good mechanical, process flow and reasoning ability
Basic Computer skills
Ability to work without close supervision
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE Forklift Certified
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting up to 50 pounds
Walking and standing for up to 12 hours at a time
Visually inspecting and monitoring the department
Equipment cleaning/maintenance as required by each process
Operating a forklift
Climbing ladders
Some areas climate controlled, while others will be subject to effects from the operation and climate
Ear protection required when equipment is in operation
Eye protection required at all times
Exposure to dust particles
