We are seeking a Distribution Supervisor to join our hard working and fast-paced team in Springfield, OR. The Distribution Manager will work collaboratively with other departments or bakeries, manages and leads a 24/7 shipping and transportation operation; ensuring timely, accurate and safe delivery of bakery products to sales depots and other bakery divisions. Provides leadership, training and oversight to department personnel to ensure company operating standards and business goals are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a 24/7 shipping and transportation operation; ensures timely, accurate and safe delivery of bakery products to sales depots and other FFB divisions.
  • Schedule and manage employees including transportation drivers (Teamsters union) and checkers (Baker’s union) including compliance with DOT regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Determine and implement optimal usage of trucks and employees for shipping.
  • Support and contribute to maintaining a safe environment by working in safe manner, promoting accident prevention, and resolving potential hazards timely.
  • Address safety concerns while shipping and transport personnel are performing job tasks. Provides initial job training for safe work methods.
  • Ensures work surroundings are maintained in a clean, neat, and safe manner.
  • Ensure shipping and transport personnel are trained and follow all accounting and documentation procedures as established by company.
  • Ensures coordination with production supervisors immediately of any overages, shortages, or product quality issues.
  • Ensures all employees are trained in job tasks and safety procedures related to job duties.
  • Provides professional communications with all customers, both internal and external.
  • Investigate problems and takes or recommends corrective action as needed.
  • Investigate transport personnel accidents and call in the drug testing company when needed.
  • Adhere to and follow the Company’s Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Six years or more of success as a Shipping Manager or Shipping Foreperson preferred.
  • Commitment to safety and proven record of safety success among employees who were under your supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Warehouse Management Systems such as PCDATA.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Previous experience in a union environment helpful.
  • Ability to work as a team member essential.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, division and department heads, public/private sector contacts, and County Administration.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot under stressful conditions.
