You will also be assigned a Supervisor, a Coach/Mentor and a dedicated IT Intern Program Coordinator to help you maximize your learning and growth throughout your summer... and beyond. The Corporate Security group at FirstEnergy provides the operational and governance support necessary for that protection. Corporate Security professionals provide the expertise and skills that enhance and support the security for all FirstEnergy personnel, assets, and day-to-day operations. Available 24/7/365, FirstEnergy's Corporate Security department is the company's single point of contact for questions and issues related to physical security, including compliance with the NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements.


About the Physical Security Intel Analyst


The Physical Security Intel Analyst Intern position at FirstEnergy will work at the Security Operations Center and with the Physical Security Field Support team to support the security best practices for FirstEnergy. The intern will benefit from on-the-job training and mentoring through learning & assisting personnel by participating in a range of meetings, projects, and initiatives. The intern's primary focus will be on monitoring, analyzing, correlating, and reporting on data through Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) searches. The intern will receive the opportunity to build professional relationships and enhance their interpersonal skills.

This position is unique as it focuses on physical security, not cyber security.


Reporting Location


This position is a hybrid position. Time will be split between in-office at the Security Operations Center in Fairmont, WV and remote.


Responsibilities of a Physical Security Intel Analyst Intern:

• Monitor, analyze, and correlate Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT)/publicly available sources on security issues (e.g. terrorism, crime, civil unrest, natural disasters, epidemic, threats, etc.) to determine impact on FirstEnergy assets, including personnel, facilities, and communities
• Verify the information accuracy
• Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and drafting summaries on intelligence issues
• Research intel gathering software platforms
• Provide weekly briefings on major security trends and forecasts
• Utilizing your interpersonal and communication skills as a professional representative of Corporate Security
• Work in conjunction with individuals on the team as well as other support teams & business partners to enforce and enhance security best practices
• Complete projects/tasks as assigned

Applicant Requirements:

• Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college with a major in Intelligence Management, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Criminal Psychology, Criminalistics, Forensic Science or related
  
• Class Standing - Rising Senior
  
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Valid driver's license
• Must be local to the Fairmont/Morgantown area of West Virginia
• Must have the ability to work without sponsorship (now or in the future)

• Dynamic and well-organized, with an eye for detail
• The student will periodically need to operate their personal vehicle during their assignment; therefore, a valid driver's license and safe driving is required
