Lecturer in Geological Science
The Department of Marine Geosciences at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science, University of Miami, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer to broaden and enhance the undergraduate mission of the Department of Marine Geosciences.
The successful candidate is expected to teach a selection of non-major and major introductory geology courses. Introductory courses would be in the vein of Evolution of the Solar System, Evolution of the Biosphere, The Global Environment, Geological Influences on Society, Natural Disasters, The Geologic Record, Geology of the National Parks, and Earth Systems. An ability to teach upper-level undergraduate classes like Mineralogy and Petrology would be viewed favorably.
The successful candidate will teach 12 credits/units in the fall and 12 credits/units in the spring. Each class meets for three hours per week. The lecturer will prepare class materials, deliver lectures in person at the University's main campus in Coral Gables, grade examinations, and provide office hours to students.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and demonstrated the ability to be an engaging and inspiring educator.
