GENERAL REQUIREMENTS :
High School equivalent or GED. Associates degree preferred in social work, psychology, behavioral studies or related fields.
Must complete mandatory eighteen (18) hour Ethics/Peer Support training and forty-six (46) hour Recovery Specialist training.
Must have two years' experience in the principles of recovery to assist individuals to improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and reach their full potential.
Must be intimately familiar with the local recovery community and knowledgeable of all local social services, businesses, faith-based organizations and neighborhoods.
Continually pursues goal of integrating cultural competency into recovery support.
Bilingual a plus, Spanish preferred.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS :
Provides peer-to-peer recovery support services and may perform specialized activities and functions to assist individuals in their recovery
REPORTS TO :
Recovery supports coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct peer-to-peer recovery support, outreach and engagement services.
Provides recovery coaching to assist all stages of the recovery continuum and do routine follow-ups.
Develop an individualized employment, financial literacy and housing plan that is consumer-centered and includes strategies for recovery.
Providing screening, brief intervention and referral to substance use treatment as needed.
Linking residents with systems that provide them with resources, services and opportunities.
Advocating on behalf of members.
May perform specialized activities and functions specific to the program.
Completes documentation and other reporting requirements.
Meets regularly with supervisor and participates in other continuing professional development opportunities.
