Define skill level within the Operator position, and establish a process for objectively evaluating and assigning operator to skill level.

The skill and level system applies to all Operator levels
3.Assessment Process
Initial assignment will be determined upon hire based upon work experience and assessment of skills through the interview process. Pay within assigned skill level will also be assessed within the performance review process. To be considered for assignment to a higher level, the Operator must show that they have completed the requirements needed for the next level.
Level 1 Assessment
Conducted by Production Supervisor
Signed off by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and then HR Manager
Level 2 Assessment
Initial Assessment by a level 3 Operator
Confirmation Assessment by Production Supervisor
Signed off by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and then HR Manager
Level 3 Assessment
Initial assessment by a level 3 Operator
Verification Assessment by Production Supervisor
Confirmation Assessment by a second Production Supervisor
Signed off by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and then HR Manager
4.Requirements
Level 1 Operator
Able to keep up with full press assignment (1-3 presses)
Able to keep downstream equipment running without bulk, during normal operating conditions
Completes operator log on time and pulls appropriate quality shots
Understands the box erecting, feeding , taping, and labeling process
Understands use of palletizing system
Keeps work area clean and occasionally cleans outside of their work station
Willingly uses manual palletizing process when palletizing system is down
Level 2 Operator
Meets or exceeds all level 1 requirements
Able to keep downstream equipment running without bulk, during abnormal operating conditions
Able to work on bulk as needed, at their press during normal operating conditions
Level 3 Operator
Meets or exceeds all Level 1 and 2 requirements
Cross trained in one or more positions (i.e. Utility, Quality, Value Added, etc), can and will cover when needed
Is a designated trainer and mentor for new Operators, continues to help and watch out for them after their 2 week training is complete
