Learning Experience Design - Content Curation and Development - Instructional Design
Are you dedicated, detail-oriented, and interested in how online learning works?
We are seeking a learning experience design (LXD) apprentice that will help the Online Professional Learning team in designing and developing online continuing education and professional development learning experiences.
You will aid full-time staff with learning design, learning content curation and development, and other assigned duties. This position will provide you with an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and grow your marketable skills in learning design through working with industry standard authoring tools in a dynamic environment among other learning and development (L&D) professionals.
Must haves:You must be currently enrolled as a student with good standing, have strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should be effective at communicating, both written and verbally, online and in-person; and be comfortable using or learning a variety of computer software and online platforms.
Bonus Requirements:In addition to the "must haves," we highly value candidates with a foundational understanding or strong interest in content creation and curation, familiarity with digital authoring tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Canva, etc., and principles of user experience design. Experience in teaching or instructing others is also a plus.
If you are often a "go-to" student whom teachers rely on to assist classmates with challenging concepts, and you have a knack for simplifying complex ideas into understandable and relatable examples, you could be particularly valuable in this role. While these "bonus requirements" are not mandatory, they are certainly beneficial. Don't worry if you're not yet proficient; we provide comprehensive training in these areas and other learning experience design skills to help you grow and succeed.
This position is part-time (20 hours maximum per week) and offers flexible work hours Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm to accommodate your class schedule and continued academic success. We'll adjust your set schedule each semester based on your class schedule.
If you are a motivated student looking to contribute to the success of our online learning programs and gain valuable experience, we encourage you to apply for this position. Your assistance will be instrumental in supporting the growth and effectiveness of online professional learning.
*This position is located off-campus at the University Plaza Building located at 1 Financial Plaza in Huntsville. The selected candidate will be responsible for their own transportation to and from work.
