ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation. This includes advanced quality planning documents, forms, and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
§ Prepares and evaluates Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documents for customers and suppliers.
§ Assists Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) team with quality issues on new product launches including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). § Manages project timing plans
§ Assures the Lot Traceability program is effective, and the program requirements are complied with.
§ Communicates with customers and suppliers (including corrective action reports) and maintains file of related correspondence.
§ Participates in defect/scrap reduction activities.
§ Assists in the purchase of Quality Assurance supplies and equipment.
§ Maintains current product drawing files, standards, and related documents.
§ Establishes gage calibration procedures. Recalls gages for calibration at a predetermined time period (includes coordination with outside laboratories if required). Assures that gages are calibrated, identified and gage records are updated and placed on file.
§ Maintains records of and controls disposition of "Hold for Inspection" (discrepant) items.
§ Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. § Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics. Does not require advanced Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) capability, however basic CMM may be required.
§ Monitors the SPC program for adherence to its underlying principles and concepts. Performs process and machine capability studies as needed.
§ Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
§ Evaluates data and drafts reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
§ Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
§ Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
§ Prepares graphs, charts of data, or enters data into computer for analysis.
§ Maintains quality records in an orderly manner.
§ Maintains use and care of safety equipment and procedures in the quality control laboratory.
§ Other duties as assigned.
§ Specifically focused on supplier management that includes supplier approval, corrective actions, part approvals and auditing.
The position requires breadth of technical experience across multiple programs and products, both electrical and mechanical, working directly with suppliers daily, influencing / working closely with the sourcing commodity leadership teams, Quality and NPD.
The successful candidate should be able to effectively communicate with senior management, have a big picture strategic mindset, handle multiple priorities, influence, and solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
§ Lead process improvement projects and /or events to streamline supplier performance § Develop positive relationships and work closely with Global Sourcing leaders to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering, design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions (NPI), and transitions.
§ Research external market information and entrepreneurial companies to identify potential sources and suppliers. Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes.
§ Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and fulfillment.
§ Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments. § Track the supplier's performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base's ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.
§ Support the manufacturing of complex parts and sub-assemblies by providing technical expertise and support for suppliers.
§ Review manufacturing processes to ensure they will yield parts compliant to engineering drawings and specifications.
§ Create and participate in PFMEA activities, Work Instruction Improvements, and Control Plan effectiveness with suppliers.
§ Drive improvements utilizing Six Sigma methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments.
§ Ensure supplier compliance while driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver performance.
§ Execute Supplier Development Engineering Playbook and Create a strategic improvement plan at each supplier
§ Drive cross functional engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance
§ Eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets and escalate as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing or Business management
8+ years combined of Supply Chain, Operations, Business management or Manufacturing Engineering experience
Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert Certification
Experience on performing production readiness & rate readiness reviews / assessments
Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership.
Experience with project management.
Proven problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret business performance and financial data, define actions, and implement solutions
