Position Summary:

New-Indy Containerboard (NICB) is seeking an IT Systems Team Lead, with a keen focus on optimization, reliability and performance of all cloud and on-premises IT server infrastructure, being responsible for the overall day to day management and support of the enterprise infrastructure and computing technologies deployed at NICB. The right candidate for this position can leverage technology to ensure operational excellence of IT Server systems within the 24/7/365 manufacturing facilities across North America. The IT Infrastructure Systems Team Lead will serve as the lead role for coordination of projects, along with direct hands-on work and mentorship within the NICB Systems Administration team for all activities related to the broad range of tools and technologies deployed involving servers, virtualization (both on-premise and cloud), storage, backups, as well as Office365 and Domain Administration tasks. This includes having tasks delegated to Systems Administration team members and handling complex technical troubleshooting for IT services that are critical to business operations, while ensuring alignment with objectives dictated by the IT Infrastructure Manager and IT Leadership team. To ensure success, the ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure platforms and tools relevant to systems administration, such as VMWare, Microsoft O365 and Active Directory, overall manufacturing technology sectors, and is driven to understand all aspects of NICB's business, in assuring the effectiveness of the IT infrastructure Systems solutions deployed, and in collaborating to the continuous improvement of NICB's Enterprise IT & OT organization going-forward.

What you will do:

High-level Day to Day Problem Resolution:
  • Leverage your technical skills to resolve tickets and problems escalated related to IT Infrastructure Systems.
  • Determine the root cause of problems and eliminate those barriers to success.
  • Work with Systems Administration team members to ensure proper training and establish a strong foundation for communication and collaborative teamwork.
  • Become the SME for the Systems Administration area of responsibility within NICB.

High-level Strategy & Planning
  • Design, implement and maintain the organization's server infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
  • Manage the integration of cloud-based solutions with on-premises infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
  • Work with external vendors and service providers as needed.

Governance & Planning
  • Lead and mentor the Systems Administration team to ensure all systems infrastructure and services are maintained in a multi-site 24/7 environment across North America.
  • Collaborate with NICB's Enterprise IT & OT teams, to assess near- and long-term infrastructure capacity needs in support of IT Leadership directives.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to infrastructure configuration, processes, and service records.
  • Assist in the development and adoption of policies, procedures, and associated training plans for overall infrastructure administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Design and deploy enterprise infrastructure technologies including servers, storage and backups, UPSs, and coordinate with site maintenance personnel to ensure reliability of datacenter\computer rooms supporting plant operations.
  • Conduct research on infrastructure products, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the infrastructure industry.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades of IT Systems.
  • Develop and manage relationship with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure products and services.

Operational Management
  • Configure systems infrastructure to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitor systems infrastructure performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, including database, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Oversee and implement Group Policies, performing best practice management of Active Directory and O365.
  • Coordinate and execute patching of all systems equipment as available patching windows and as guided by the NICB Enterprise Security team.
  • Practice asset management, including maintenance of server component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Monitor and test systems performance and provide relevant KPIs.
  • Participate in managing all infrastructure security solutions.
  • Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
  • Collaborate with NICB's Enterprise Security Team to ensure security compliance and hardening of all systems and equipment.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the team.

What you will need:

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in business, IT or similar discipline, or commensurate equivalent work experience in a technology field.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, follow up, documentation preparation and maintenance skills, and customer service orientation are crucial for success in this role.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience within or supporting 24x7 manufacturing environments.
  • Extensive application support experience with MS Office.
  • Familiarity with the fundamental principles of ITIL.
  • 5+ years direct experience in designing and managing enterprise-level IT infrastructure solutions at a senior level.
  • 2+ years direct experience in leading teams in either a supervisory fashion or as the SME for major projects.
  • Proven experience in developing enterprise level infrastructure systems and related solutions.
  • Direct and extensive experience with implementing and maintaining Microsoft server operational systems and virtualization platforms (VMWare).
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, networking and system administration.
  • Extensive experience with Server Hardware (HPE, Dell), along with iSCSI storage (Nimble, EMC).
  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (VXRail, SimpliVity)
  • Knowledge of 1, 10, 25, 40 and 100Gbps Ethernet required.
  • Experience with server backup
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Reliable and available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Work Conditions
  • 40-hour on-site work week. Emergency call-in availability for 24-hour production environment.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components. Be able to lift 40 lbs. unassisted.
  • Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of offsite software and system integration efforts.
