The Director is accountable for assuring the provision of effective operations encompassing multiple responsibilities which include: operational and strategic collaboration and execution of medical operations of the Emergency Department, and Hospital Medicine, management of operations including financial performance, compliance with revenue cycle management, and fostering of interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships within the units of accountability and the organization. The Director has primary responsibility for Emergency Department and Hospital Medicine operations, and is open to occasional evenings and weekends. The Director will work collaboratively with the Medical Directors and nurse leaders of both programs. This is a highly visible position that has administrative authority to work with entities across Sturdy Health in order to meet established accountabilities.

Reports to: Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Education/Training: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare-related field (5 years of management level experience) required.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in area of responsibility, including physician/providers relations. Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive management experience with increasing scope of responsibility preferred. Emergency Services experience preferred.
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrates results oriented leadership. Must be well organized, able to set priorities, work independently and function as an effective team member. Proficient in computer systems and software applications required. Demonstrates ability to use persuasive communication, leadership, and relationship-building.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact in a professional and effective manner with internal and external customers.

Provides leadership and direction to ensure the successful operations, quality and safety of both Emergency Departments and Hospital Medicine.

Understands financial metrics and benchmarks and meets with medical providers and leaders monthly to review.
Prepares, monitors and manages annual personnel, operating and capital budgets in collaboration with designated senior leader, clinical directors and medical staff.

Communicates budgetary information both to the staff and to direct supervisor.

In conjunction with medical director facilitates professional growth and development of allied healthcare providers and physicians through identification of needs and provision of educational programs.

Strategic Planning
Participates in strategic planning as requested relative to areas of responsibility.
Obtains staff and medical staff input into areas considered for strategic planning and shares information with direct supervisor.

In collaboration with the Emergency Department and Hospital Medicine, communicates organizational and departmental strategic plan to providers and staff.
