The company is seeking a strategic, experienced, and solutions-oriented Chief Legal Counsel to join the leadership team. Position Overview:
As Chief Legal Counsel, you will serve as the top legal advisor for the company, providing expert legal guidance on a broad range of issues related to construction law, corporate governance, contract negotiations, risk management, dispute resolution, labor and employment law, and more. You will work closely with executive leadership, project managers, and external legal partners to minimize legal risks and optimize business opportunities. This role is integral to the firm's mission of building strong, sustainable relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic legal counsel on construction projects, contracts, and corporate matters.
Lead negotiations for high-stakes contracts and agreements, including general contractor agreements, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
Advise on risk management, insurance, and compliance issues, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Oversee the management and resolution of disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations.
Develop and implement company-wide legal policies and procedures to safeguard the firm's interests.
Stay current with industry trends, legal developments, and changes to construction-related laws and regulations.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align legal strategy with business goals.
Lead and mentor a small in-house legal team and manage external counsel as needed.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active member of the Arizona State Bar (or eligible for admission).
At least 5 years of legal experience.
Strong knowledge of construction law, contract law, employment law, and dispute resolution.
Experience negotiating and drafting construction contracts, including general contractor, subcontractor, and supplier agreements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle complex legal matters and balance risk with business objectives.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
