Job Description:

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Quality Lab Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician Lead is a working role with the responsibility of ensuring work flow, testing, and all other daily duties are completed. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to the completion of testing and inspection, dimensional analysis and support of other departments within HellermannTyton. This position requires the Technician be able to complete product/process inspections in a product environment as well as a lab environment while managing files and software. Overtime will be required including some weekend hours. This position will also maintain HellermannTyton's TS16949/ISO14001/EMS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Help support the HellermannTyton Team by mentoring Operators regarding Quality of Product
  • Perform 1st Piece Inspection of manufactured product
  • Perform in-process inspection of manufactured product
  • Perform Product specific tests including but not limited to tensile
  • Perform moisture analysis on manufactured product as well as incoming
  • Verify Material Certification and Approve raw material
  • Enter and edit SPC data in the SPC computer file
  • File all QA records and samples (obsolete and current).
  • Use incoming color chip samples to verify colorant in receiving
  • Handle non-conforming material isolation and documentation
  • Perform a dimensional layout referencing the HellermannTyton drawing
  • Use SPC software
  • Completion of all relevant data for PPAP Documentation
  • Record all inspection and test data.
  • Weigh parts.
  • Use control plans.
  • PPAP and PPC testing.
  • Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and Environmental certification by supporting: Corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Other Functions
  • Maintain a clean lab environment.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Become a "go-to" person regarding product compliance to standards
  • Identify Risks to Quality and communicate them to appropriate personal
  • Assist with the training of QA Lab Technicians and QA Dock Audit Specialist, following QA Lab Supervisor's recommended standard practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned, including filling in as a QA Lab Tech when required / needed
  • Support LEAN Work Environment
  • File documents in department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 5S the lab environment and audit as needed to sustain the 5S initiatives.
  • Monitor lab supplies and recommend purchases as needed.
  • Offer suggestions and ideas for test methods on new projects.
Qualifications (skills, Knowledge, Experience)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some post high school education preferred.
  • 2-5 years prior lab experience in a manufacturing setting with an understanding of lab terms and definitions.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Prior computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, excel, outlook).
  • Good vision.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Blueprint reading skills preferred.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in a independent or group environment
  • All employees entering the Manufacturing area and other identified locations must wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their position.
  • Wearing your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a condition of employment.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours as needed to meet the needs of the department and customer.
