We are seeking an experienced CUCM Network Engineer to support and manage our Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environment, including the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of UC solutions. This contract-to-hire position based in Miramar, FL will involve working with a team of network and UC professionals to design, implement, and optimize Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure for both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of networking technologies, as well as experience in troubleshooting and maintaining complex UC systems.
Key Responsibilities:
CUCM Administration & Configuration:
Administer and manage Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) platforms, including installation, upgrades, patches, and day-to-day operations.
Implement and maintain call routing, dial plans, voicemail systems, and other CUCM features.
Configure, provision, and troubleshoot IP phones, gateways, and video endpoints.
Monitor CUCM performance and ensure system uptime, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.
Collaboration Systems:
Support Cisco collaboration platforms such as Cisco Jabber, Cisco Webex, and Cisco Unity Connection.
Assist with the integration of Cisco solutions with third-party applications and systems (e.g., contact centers, CRM systems).
Network Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot network-related issues impacting voice services, such as latency, jitter, packet loss, and other quality issues.
Utilize network diagnostic tools such as Wireshark and Cisco-specific tools to analyze and resolve network and voice problems.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure CUCM is compliant with security best practices, applying necessary patches and performing regular security assessments.
Work with IT security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities.
User Support:
Provide high-level support for CUCM services, including troubleshooting escalations and advanced issue resolution.
Offer training and guidance to internal teams or end-users as needed.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of experience working with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) in an enterprise environment.
Hands-on experience with Cisco Voice Gateways (e.g., ISR routers) and related voice networking technologies.
Solid understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, SCCP, H.323, MGCP).
Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Cisco Prime, and other diagnostic tools.
Certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience required.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Collaboration or Voice is preferred.
Cisco Certified Specialist in Collaboration is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in CUCM administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
In-depth knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, and networking technologies.
Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) in a VoIP environment.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot VoIP infrastructure and related network devices.
Familiarity with Cisco Webex, Jabber, and other collaboration platforms.
Understanding of Cisco Contact Center technologies (UCCX/UCCE) is a plus.
Experience with cloud-based collaboration solutions (e.g., Webex Calling, Microsoft Teams) is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud Experience: Knowledge of cloud-based UC solutions (e.g., Webex Calling, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, etc.) and how they integrate with on-premises CUCM systems.
Multi-Site Experience: Experience managing CUCM deployments across multiple locations or in a multi-site network environment.
Advanced Network Knowledge: Familiarity with Cisco SD-WAN, MPLS, and other advanced network technologies that may be used to support voice traffic.
