Overview
As a UAS Production Engineer you will assist in the development of automations in the production process of Hylio's UAS. The role will primarily involve integration of hardware changes developed by the RnD department into the production workflow. This includes both determining the easiest workflows for production and integration of new components on the UAS, as well as the documentation required to bring these workflows into production use by Hylio's assembly technicians. You will be expected to use SolidWorks CAD to generate assembly instructions for Hylio's technicians using our existing CAD models for each UAS, as well as maintain BOM's for all aircraft as changes are integrated into the production lines. You will assist the production manager in developing and implementing new systems and procedures throughout the production process.
You will work in a dynamic team setting where you will interact with technicians, computer scientists, and other mechanical engineers. You must be able to communicate well with others, as you will frequently operate as an intermediary between Hylio's RnD and production staff members.
Responsibilities
Assist the production manager to integrate RnD changes into the production lines, utilizing CAD and other software to improve production processes and generate detailed documentation for use in assembly line production.
You work can involve, but is not limited to:
Large crop-spraying UAS (50-500 lb)
Small sensor UAS (i.e. "scout" drones)
Develop and improve warehousing and assembly line process using lean manufacturing and six sigma principles
Maintain BOM's for aircraft and ground station products
Develop and improve manufacturing / assembly processes for new and existing products
Development of manufacturing plans for scaled production of electromechanical systems
Work in a team setting with other engineers, technicians, and scientists
Skills
BS/MS in manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace, or mechatronics engineering
Experience with lean manufacturing principles, six sigma certifications preferred
Experience developing/refining/improving production procedures involving hand assembly of large or small hardware
Strong knowledge of mechanical design practices and procedures
Experience with CAD programs (SolidWorks, Fusion360, and/or NX)
Strong computer literacy; Use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and various office administrative software applications will be required
Preferred: 2-5 years relevant work experience
Preferred: direct experience working with UAS
