Job Description:

I am sourcing for a strategic, experienced, and dynamic Vice President of Life Sciences Public Relations to lead communications efforts in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors. This executive will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships, guiding communication strategies, and overseeing the development of impactful media campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of the life sciences industry, regulatory environments, and an extensive network of media and industry contacts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute high-level PR strategies that support clients' business objectives in the life sciences sector.
    • Provide strategic counsel to clients on communications issues, crisis management, reputation building, and media relations.
    • Lead integrated campaigns that resonate across various media channels and align with key regulatory and industry trends.
  2. Client Relations and Account Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, acting as a senior point of contact.
    • Ensure client satisfaction and deliver exceptional service, exceeding expectations in strategy, messaging, and execution.
    • Lead and mentor account teams, overseeing their activities to ensure high-quality, timely, and innovative communications work.
  3. Media Relations and Thought Leadership:
    • Leverage established media contacts in the life sciences and healthcare industries to secure coverage in top-tier and trade publications.
    • Identify and develop thought leadership opportunities for clients, including speaking engagements, bylined articles, and industry awards.
    • Guide clients on effective social media strategies to engage target audiences and build brand awareness.
  4. Regulatory and Industry Knowledge:
    • Stay updated on regulatory trends, scientific advancements, and public policy changes that may impact clients.
    • Advise clients on navigating complex regulatory environments and communicating effectively within industry parameters.
  5. Business Development:
    • Lead efforts to expand the agency's life sciences portfolio by identifying new business opportunities and participating in the RFP and proposal process.
    • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients, partnerships, and media opportunities.
  6. Team Development and Mentorship:
    • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering an environment of learning and professional growth.
    • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in team and client engagements.

Requirements:
  • 9+ years of experience in public relations, with a focus on life sciences, healthcare, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and leading strategic communications and public relations programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MA, MBA, PhD) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations, including FDA, CDC, and other relevant bodies.
  • Proven track record of successful media placements, crisis communications, and thought leadership campaigns.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
