The primary responsibility of this role is to take full ownership of their product segment, encompassing strategic sourcing of both new and existing products, driving growth within the segment, and controlling overall cost and margin. This role includes onboarding new products and vendors. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring that product marketing efforts are effective to maximize sales. This position reports to the president and requires collaboration with the sourcing team and other departments to support and achieve the broader goals and objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Includes the following; other duties may be assigned.
-Manages supplier relationships, driving cost reduction initiatives, negotiating contracts, and rationalizing current supplier base.
-Support quality measurement systems, including feedback mechanisms and continuous
improvements within the product base.
-Set quality standards for supplier products and delivery, and direct efforts for alternate sources
of supply.
-Manage import compliances.
-Research and analyze data on current and new products.
-Work closely with purchasing, marketing, technical, and distribution departments
REQUIREMENTS:
-10+ years of Category Management experience
-Experience with domestic and international sourcing.
-Strong analytical skills and computer skills with emphasis on Excel.
-Strong interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate/manage multiple tasks
